Do you know which page gets the most website traffic? Are you capitalizing on it?

You may think the home page of your website receives the most website visitors, but you may be surprised this is not necessarily the case.

Google Analytics

For tracking purposes, I use Google Analytics. It’s a free service that provides very detailed analytics on your website visitors, such as what pages they visit, how long they are on your website, how many visitors do you get each day/month/year, etc.

Top Website Content

Any way, let me get back on track with what I want to share in this post. Within the Google Analytics dashboard you can view your “Top Content”. These are the pages of your website that receive the most visitors.

For myself, I wasn’t surprised to see two of my landing pages near the top of this list. I heavily market these two pages online, so I expect them to receive high levels of traffic. I was surprised though by the blog posts that were receiving high levels of traffic. They weren’t blog posts I set up to be high for any specific keywords or that I thought were particularly great. However, they were bringing high levels of traffic to my website.

So, I looked at these posts and saw that I didn’t do a good job directing readers to the next step on one of these posts. I went back in and added a closing line inviting them to access more information through an e-course I offer. I also added an small ad to the bottom of the blog post for a program I offer.

If you have a decent number of visitors coming to a webpage or blog post it’s important to make sure you are making the most of that traffic. Decide the top action you’d like those visitors to take and make sure you lead them step by step to that action, such as signing up for your ‘free taste’ so you can collect their name and email address for future marketing purposes.

My main point:

Make sure you are not wasting valuable real estate on your website. If you have a web page attracting visitors, use it effectively.

If you don’t pay attention to website analytics. . .it’s time to start.

Do you know which page gets the most website traffic?

All the best,
Lisa Nelson
