Do you need social media marketing?

By Lisa Nelson  |  Social Media

It takes time to effectively market using social media. If you are already busy it may be difficult to justify why expanding your marketing reach to social media is worthwhile. It’s important for you to understand the benefits of social media so you can make a decision on whether or not this is the right marketing channel for your business to explore.

Today let’s cover a few of the top benefits to using social media:

#1 – You’re a real person.

When it comes to the online world it can be difficult for potential customers and clients to determine trustworthy programs versus scams. Your potential clients want to buy from a human they can connect with, not some unknown. Social media provides a venue for your clients and potential clients to connect with you and know you are real person who hears their concerns and can address them.

#2 – Website Traffic.

To be successful online you must have website visitors. No website visitors equal no sales. Social media allows you to link back to your website in your profile and updates you share. This can be a very effective way to lead traffic back to your website.

#3 – Visibility.

Social media is a fantastic tool for gaining visibility. It gets your business name, your name, your logo, and your message regularly in front of potential clients. Just because someone may not be ready to purchase from your right now, when they are ready for your service and see a post or tweet from you regarding their problem area they are more likely to trust you and look into your services further because they visually recognize you. (I.e. you become a more trusted brand).

#4 – Expert status.

Social media is a great conversational tool that allows you to participate in discussions. This means you can engage in conversations and authentically offer tips and guidance that are of value to your potential clients. This will highlight you as an expert in your area. With social media the more you give the more you often receive.

Off the top of my head I can’t quote how many people now use Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn, but it’s in the millions and grows rapidly everyday. If you operate a business it is essential you get involved and interact with potential clients where they are. It’s safe to bet that if you do not your competitors will . . . and many already do.

I realize establishing and implementing a social media strategy is a daunting task. Look at the Content Marketing service I provide clients. You can use this as an example of one social media marketing strategy you can model and modify to meet your needs.

All the best,
Lisa Nelson
