I ask newsletter subscribers what their biggest struggle is when moving their practice online. A common answer is unfamiliarity with the ‘online world’, overwhelm, and not knowing where to start.
Here’s one piece of advice I’d like to share:
Try to avoid the “bright/shiny object syndrome”. New technology and tools are constantly being developed and marketed. People will constantly be telling you – you have to do this or that if you are going to be successful. For example in the online world it may be you must publish an email newsletter or you must blog. If you try to do everything as you’re learning it’ll actually slow you down. Plus, if you keep starting one thing and then stopping because you suddenly hear you are suppose to be doing something else instead. . . you’re not going to get anywhere. Pick one, master it. Then decide the next step to add that’s right for where you want to go.
All the best,
Lisa Nelson
