What is a Landing Page?

A landing page, also called a squeeze page or opt-in page, is an essential online marketing tool which allows you to grow a list of potential customers.

A landing page is a simple web page with one goal. The goal of a landing page is not to make a sale, but to get individuals to sign up for your email list.

Look at your website. If your site is set up correctly you’ll have an opt-in box on every page of your website and this opt-in box may convert subscribers at a rate of 3-5%. Not bad.

Unwanted Distractions

However, look at all the links people can choose to click on. A typical website is full of distractions that will keep people from actually giving you their name and email address. Even though they may be interested in your information and want your newsletter, they may click on an article link first and then end up clicking off your site altogether.

What this means is with all the options on a standard website it’ll be very difficult to get high newsletter sign-up rates.

One Option Equals Higher Conversions

What you need is a landing page you ‘drive traffic’ to that offers viewers one option without all the distraction.

When someone lands on your landing page they only have one action they can take – to give you their name and email address for more information. In other words they must “opt-in” to you list to learn more.

Typically you’ll offer them an ethical bribe, such as a special report, e-course, audio recording, or video series in exchange for permission to contact them in the future via your email newsletter and solo mailings.

There is no menu bar where people can choose to click somewhere else. They either enter their name and email or they leave the page.

The benefit is a drastically higher conversion rate of closer to 30-40% versus a much lower conversion of 3-5% from your website.

This means you will more quickly build a list of potential clients who are truly interested in what you offer. You will have a greater chance of turning these individuals into paying clients versus those who just stumble across the programs/services listed on your website.

If you are not currently driving traffic via article marketing and social media to a squeeze page it’s going to take you much longer to see financial success with your online practice. You need a webpage that is sure to turn a high percentage of visitors into subscribers.

All the best,
